Ikka Production Notes: Siddharth P. Malhotra and Alchemy Films
Director-producer path, writing credits, and why Ikka went straight to Netflix.
Ikka comes from Alchemy Films, the banner of director-producer Siddharth P. Malhotra. Here’s what’s publicly known about how the film got made.
The director-producer
Siddharth P. Malhotra both directed and produced Ikka (with Sapna Malhotra credited as co-producer) — a hands-on approach that kept the film’s vision unified. Public writing credits centre on Althea Kaushal (story and screenplay) with Mayank Tewari on screenplay and dialogues. Malhotra has spoken warmly about the ensemble, noting there are “no small parts, only memorable performances” — a nod to a cast that includes Jyoti Mukerji, Shishir Sharma, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, and Vijay Vikram Singh alongside the leads.
The craft departments
Jishnu Bhattacharjee handled cinematography, Shweta Venkat Mathew the editing, Julius Packiam the background score, and Mithoon the songs — including “Woh Ikka Hai.” It’s a solid, experienced crew for a film that lives or dies on performance and dialogue.
The Netflix path
Ikka was announced during Netflix India’s lineup slate event in Mumbai in February 2026, and it marks Sunny Deol’s first direct-to-streaming release — a milestone the star himself acknowledged. The trailer dropped on 29 June 2026, and the film premiered exclusively on Netflix on 10 July 2026, streaming worldwide.
The production’s biggest bet was the casting: reuniting Deol and Khanna 29 years after Border. That reunion story is worth reading on its own — and the cast guide breaks down every character.
